Enjoy Old-Fashioned Fun At Old Town In Kissimmee, Florida   by Iris Dean

In the heart of all the action, located at 5770 West Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy in Kissimmee, Florida is Old Town. With an abundance of shopping, dining, attractions, and entertainment for the whole family all located in one spot it's easy to see why Old Town is so popular. On our recent visit we meet travelers from all over the US, and many international visitors who loved Old Town's 75 Specialty Shops, 8 Delicious restaurants, and 18 Thrilling Rides, including a roller coaster. Here's a preview of what you'll find, yet to really experience a full day of fun for the entire family we suggest you drop by and say hi.

Weekly Classic Car Cruises

Old Town is also home to the Largest Weekly Car Cruises. Each weekend classic car lovers from all over gather for a nostalgic glimpse of cars that parade through Old Town. Weekend events include: The Friday Nite Cruise with vehicle 1973-1987 and the newer customs & exotics. The Saturday Nite Cruise®, featuring over 300 classic cars from 1972 and older, starting at 1pm. We can't forget the amazing custom motorcycles that roll into Old Town for the Thursday Nite Motorcycle Night. Along with the Classic Cars and Motorcycles, Old Town also has Live Nightly Entertainment on the Main Stage and great Special Events held throughout the year!

Registration for the Saturday Nite Cruise is free and open to owners of vehicles registered 1972 or older, and/or to exotics or replicas specifically approved by the Old Town Cruiser Association. Registration is between 1:00pm and 8:00pm Saturday. Please present a valid Drivers License, registration, tag, and proof of insurance when registering your vehicle.

Shopping At Old Town

With over 75 specialty shops along Old Town's brick-lined streets it's easy to find a unique gift for yourself or someone else. We found shops with a mix of souvenirs, resort wear, sports apparel, jewelry, and old-fashioned collectibles. What was most interesting about the selection of stores is some offered gift items we had never seen anywhere else like the whimsical puppets at Hairy Gibbons "Puppet Store," (407-397-1149). For those looking to unwind and be pampered while the rest of the family enjoy the rides and attractions there's also the Time for Pleasure Day Spa, (407-925-9376). Of course the kids loved the rides and the games in the arcade, but they also enjoyed watching how the taffy was pulled, watching the Candle Maker create his wax masterpieces, and exploring the petrified rock forest.

Dining At Old Town

As a child I couldn't wait for Sunday's after Church when our grandfather would take us down to the A&W for a Root Beer float. Your family can savor the old-fashioned flavor of root beer floats and other tasty treats while at Old Town at the A&W All American Food restaurant. Whether you're in the mood for a quick bite to eat or prefer to sit down and relax there are a number of delicious places to eat in Old Town.

The signature prime rib at Damon's Grill is great, or try a few slices of pizza or calzone at Flipper's Pizzeria. Want a cool drink while waiting for your meal? Then visit The Tropical Breeze Restaurant & Daiquiri Bar. The teriyaki chicken with a side of fried rice at Spring Roll Chinese Restaurant is very tasty, and there are also gyro's available at the Great Pretzel Co. and Deli. Save a bit of room for dessert at the Old Town Ice Cream Co., Kissimmee Popcorn, Old Town Candy Store, and The Gourmet Nut Hut.
